In the early time of computer age,a computer had a very large size.It took a space of a few rooms.Minicomputer,which came later,was much smaller but it's size still as big as a refrigerator.Computer was small enough to fit on the top of a desk or a table in 1971.It was then called a "Desktop Computer",or in short a "Desktop".But don't call it a "Tabletop" please ! as this is not familiar in the computer business.

Desktop computer is designed to fit in an individual workspace,i.e.in the office or at home.As it was for individual use,thus also called a "Personal Computer" or a "PC".

Desktop can be connected and share resource such as printer via a Local Area Network or LAN.Desktop spare parts and extensions are normally standardized.This makes it cheaper in terms of production cost and enable it for customization and upgrading.

Desktop is powered from electricity and it's safe from heat problem,even being used for long hours.

Laptop Computer

Laptop,a computer that is smaller in size and lighter in weight than a Desktop.A laptop is small and light enough to sit on the user's lap while in use.That's why it was called "laptop computer" or "laptop"

Laptop is designed for traveling use.The weight of a laptop is usually around 3 kg.It has a thin,flat display screen,a keyboard,a pointing device and speakers in it.Notebook and Netbook computers are considered as laptop.

Laptop is powered by mains electricity via AC adapter and rechargeable battery.Some laptops have a VGA connector,which allows it to connect to external monitor or video projector.Laptop is also capable for graphic applications,i.e.playing video ,video games,3D application,etc.

With rapid advanced innovation and competition nowadays,many laptops can deliver higher performance at lower prices.Laptops become popular and are now widely used by people all over the world
