HDTV

HDTV (or HD,or High Definition Television) is a television system that boasts twice the scanning lines than traditional Standard Definition Television (SDTV or SD)

HDTV or HD generally has 1-2 million pixels per frame,or around 5 times of the resolution of Standard Definition Television (SDTV or SD)

HDTV or HD is now the highest quality television with widescreen of 16:9,which is the same ratio of a movie screen.

In terms of resolution, more scanning lines make better quality picture and progressive scan (p) is better than interlaced (i),as it processes the image twice as fast, leading to better clarity and more lively color.

On HDTV labels,we can see something like 720p,1080i and 1080p.These are the terms to identify its resolution quality. For buying decision,HDTV with 1080p is the best, while the difference of pictures from 720p and 1080i are very minimal. But for small size HDTV up to 32 inches, pictures produced by either 1080p or 720p are not significantly different
